10 PESOS

Espacios Vacíos.

Saturdays in Mexico were spent at the flea market with my grandmother, Mamá Maria. She'd give me ten pesos for whatever my pequeña heart desired - coloring books. Those days were meant for filling in empty spaces.

The gift of ten pesos was where my lifelong journey as an artist started.

MI HISTORIA

Jalisco, Mexico.

I was born Priscila Jimenez Llamas in Jalisco, Mexico. At 8, my Mother and I immigrated to Napa, California and where we met with my Mother's Sisters. From then on, mi familia grew from two to six. With my Mother, two Tias, an Uncle, and Cousin (in many ways, my Sister), we all lived together in the beautiful Wine Country.

Rhetórica Visual.

My art is a landscape of intimacy and a study of being Latinx in the present moment. I document and extract the experiences as collages - a story that evolves into paintings of visual theories, interpretation, cultural syntaxes, and metaphors. My pieces are in harmony with hip hop, graffiti, and elements of my Mexican culture.
